The first is 'The Shipper' : This is the person who needs to get something delivered.
The second is 'The Driver' : That's you! The person who can actually make the delivery.
Whenever a new delivery is listed on our site, that match your route preferences we'll send you instantaneous email alerts. If you want to make the delivery, simply leave the client a quote, at the click of a button. If the shipper likes your quote, they'll accept you for the delivery job! Just a second, I have some questions. What sort of things might I be asked to deliver?
Anything that needs moving from one place to another. It could be something small, or something big. Household items are popular, as are pets, kayaks and other oddly shaped items.
So what happens if my vehicle does not have room for the item?
You are not under any obligation to leave quotes on deliveries. We'll make sure we send notifications your way, and only if you like the look of a job
should you bid on it. If you do not want to make the delivery simply ignore it.
How much money can I make?
The size of the job, and the distance you will need to travel will generally determine the amount that you get paid for the job. We do not set the prices for each delivery job, our members do!
Short local delivery jobs can be in the range of $70 to $250 (on average), but for the long distance shipments, they can pay in the thousands of dollars range.
How far will I be expected to drive?
Each contract is different. Some deliveries are short local pick-up and delivery. Others may be to a different city, or even a different state.
How do I get paid?
CitizenShipper.com acts to connect you with shipments - we don't mediate the payment. However, when the client hires you for the job, they become legally bound to pay you via the contracts we have pre-prepared on our site, as long as you fulfill your end of the bargain. You can request cash, check, or if you have the capability to accept credit cards or paypal then that's also an option. If you want to find driver jobs then join us today!
You are, of course, free to request a % of the total fee up front from from the client before performing the job, however many drivers use the shipment itself as the collateral to ensure payment.
In the entire history of CitizenShipper.com, we have had a 100% payment rate from clients, so please don't be too concerned about this! If you want to find driver jobs this site is for you.
Do I need any special licenses or permits?
No, anyone can join and use CitizenShipper.com. Some of our drivers hold CDL's, others just hold standard drivers licenses. Some of the small local pick-up and delivery jobs might just appeal to non-commercial drivers, whereas larger freight or hot shot loads might appeal to the commercial drivers who register. We have something for just about everyone!
