Just a moment, what will I be expected to ship?
There are a wide range of truck driver jobs. These can range from freight to furniture. Sometimes there are pet shipping, and motorcycle shipping - or perhaps just a small package. Freight and larger items also appear on our site.
What if my truck does not have room for the delivery?
After you sign up you will receive notifications of shipments - but you are not obligated to leave quotes. You will simply receive notifications of all jobs in your area, and if you like the look of a truck driver job you can bid on it. If you do not, simply ignore it.
Ok, so how much can I make?
The size of the shipment, and the distance you will need to travel will generally determine the amount that you get paid for the job. We do not set the prices for each delivery job, our customers do! Sign up today for truck driver jobs.
Short local delivery jobs can be in the range of $70 to $250 (on average), whereas long distance hot shot loads can pay in the thousands of dollars range.
How far will I be expected to drive?
Each contract is different. Some deliveries are short local pick-up and delivery. Others, like hot shot loads, can be to a different city, or even a different state.
How do I get paid?
CitizenShipper connects you with shipments, but we do not mediate the payment. When the customer hires you for the shipment, they become legally obligated to pay you through the sample contracts we have prepared on our site**. So, as long as you fulfill your end of the bargain you will get paid. You can request cash, check, or if you have the capability to accept credit cards or paypal then that's also a possibility.
You can request a percentage of the total fee up front from from the client before performing the job, however many drivers use the shipment itself as the collateral to ensure payment.
In the history of CitizenShipper.com, we have had a 100% payment rate from clients, so please don't be too concerned about this!
Do I need any special licenses or permits?
No, anyone can join and use CitizenShipper. Some of our drivers hold commercial licenses while others just hold standard drivers licenses. Some of the small local pick-up and delivery jobs might just appeal to non-commercial drivers, whereas larger freight or hot shot loads might appeal to the commercial drivers who register. There is something for just about everyone!*
